Temperament

Sociable, relaxed, and doglike: many follow their people from room to room, play fetch, and tolerate leashes. They're chirpers and trillers rather than loud meowers.

Size & Growth

One of the largest domestic breeds. Budget for larger litter boxes, sturdy cat trees, and bigger carriers than standard.

Activity & Enrichment

Moderate energy with bursts of playfulness. They love interactive play, climbing, and many are fascinated by water. Provide sturdy vertical space rated for their weight.

Grooming

Health Considerations

Predisposed to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), hip dysplasia, and spinal muscular atrophy in some lines. Choose breeders who screen, and keep up regular vet checkups.
