Why Bananas Are a Good Treat

Potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and fiber, wrapped in a soft texture even senior mouths handle easily — no choking hazard, no toxic compounds, nothing controversial. Many dogs adore the sweetness; a few sniff and walk away, which is also fine.

The Sugar Caveat

That sweetness is the catch: bananas are relatively high in natural sugar, so quantity matters. Portion guide: 1–2 thin slices for small dogs, up to a quarter banana for medium dogs, up to half a banana for large dogs — a few times a week, inside the 10% treat budget (treat math here).
